TMP-27262 2  Discussion ItemSTATUS OF MUNICIPAL HERITAGE REGISTER T. Wierzba Planner provided an update concerning the Simcoe County Gaol and Barrie Armoury. Mr. Wierzba advised that he is waiting on a response from the property owners and will report back to the Committee at a future meeting. Mr. Wierzba provided an update regarding 125 and 127 Dunlop Street East. He advised that he has been working with the property owner on completing the application form to have their property designated as heritage. Mr. Wierzba provided a brief overview of steps and process for designating a property as heritage. Mr. Wierzba provided an update regarding Collier Street United Church located at 112 Collier Street. He advised that an application form has been received from Collier Street United Church to be added on the Municipal Heritage Register as a listed property. Mr. Wierzba and S. MacKinnon advised that a lot of good questions arose from assisting Collier Street United Church through the application process for the Municipal Heritage Register and it was suggested that this could be used as a blueprint to assist Received  Action details Not available

TMP-27263 1  Discussion ItemDISCUSSION OF POTENTIAL HERITAGE AND TOURISM STAKEHOLDERS COLLABORATION C. Colebatch provided an update regarding a potential heritage and tourism stakeholders collaboration. Ms. Colebatch provided a list of potential stakeholders to the Committee and they provided their feedback to her. The Committee discussed ideas and potential dates related to hosting an annual heritage stakeholders meeting and promotion of this event. C. Colebatch, C. Froese and S. TMP-27265 2  Discussion ItemHERITAGE PLAQUES FOR LISTED BUILDINGS T. Wierzba provided an update regarding the heritage plaques for listed buildings. He explained that a list of Municipal Heritage Register listed properties has been compiled. He explained that the intention is to send out correspondence to the property owners of the listed properties concerning heritage plaques for their locations. TMP-27266 2  Discussion ItemUPDATES FROM THE COMMITTEE a) HISTORIC ART ON UTILITY BOX WRAPS C. Froese provided an update regarding Historic Art on Utility Box Wraps. He commented that he is waiting on a response regarding costs associated with historic art on utility boxes and will report back at a future meeting. Councillor, J. Harris suggested presenting the idea of historic art wraps on utility boxes to members of Council who may have an interest in having one located in each of their respective wards that could deter vandalism, graffiti and would promote the history of Barrie. b) PLANTING TREES IN HERITAGE PARK C. Froese provided an update regarding planting trees in Heritage Park. Mr. Froese described that the intent is to have 327 trees planted in the Military Heritage Park which is intended to honour soldiers from Barrie who died in the wars. Mr. Froese suggested potentially there may be organizations or associations interested in participating with the planting of the trees.
