Police Chief K, Greenwood provided a brief overview of the status of the draft Community Safety and Well-Being Plan. Chief Greenwood introduced Alex Way from Mass LBP to provide an update on the draft Plan.
Alex Way, Mass LBP provided an overview of the “Our Shared Plan for Safer Barrie: The City of Barrie’s First Community Safety and Well-Being Plan 2021-2024” which was circulated on January 14, 2021. He provided a status update on the action items associated with the draft and he discussed the next steps in the process to finalize the Plan.
D. McAlpine, provided her suggestions related to the draft Plan and identified some areas within the text of the document that she felt may require clarification.
The Committee discussed and provided their feedback to Mr. Way and Chief Greenwood.

The Committee discussed the next steps in the process for finalizing the “Our Shared Plan for a Safer Barrie: The City of Barrie’s First Community Safety and Well Being Plan 2021-2024”.
D. McAlpine and Fire Chief, C. Mainprize provided an overview of the process for reporting to General Committee and City Council.
The Committee agreed to establish a sub-committee to review the final version of the Plan. Chief Greenwood, Sargeant V. Gates, Councillor, N. Harris and D. McAlpine volunteered to participate on the sub-committee.
Chief Greenwood discussed the next steps and timelines to have the plan available for the sub-committee’s review. Chief Greenwood noted that once the Barrie Police Service has received the publication-ready version Plan from Mass LBP, it will be forwarded to the Committee for their review prior to the next meeting.
It was agreed that staff in the Barrie Fire and Emergency Service Department would prepare a staff report regarding the publication-ready version of the Plan, which will be presented to General Committee and City Council.
