K. Brislin, Senior Policy Planner reviewed the Municipal Naming Policy. Ms. Brislin noted that the Municipal Naming Policy establishes a comprehensive approach to the naming or renaming of municipal assets. Ms. Brislin reviewed the criteria for commemorative naming and the application process.
Ms. Ann Rowe provided a brief summary of the community contributions that her late husband, Osmond (Ossie) J. Rowe, made to the City of Barrie. Ms. Rowe asked that Mr. Ossie Rowe’s community involvement be recognized by the City of Barrie. | Received | |

The Committee met and discussed the draft Proclamation request regarding Ontario Heritage Week. C. Tribble noted that Ontario Heritage Week takes place February 15 to February 21, 2016. He noted that this year’s theme is the history of medical science and innovation in Ontario. Councillor Ward suggested including reference in the Proclamation to Dr. William Osler and Dr. William Gallie who were instrumental in the development of training programs for doctors and have a connection to the Barrie community. | Received | |
