Cheryl Dillon, Accessibility Co-ordinator provided an update regarding the Age-Friendly Community Planning Grant project. C. Dillon advised that a survey was launched to seek the views of older adults about the current environment for seniors in Barrie. She noted that the survey received a good response.
C. Dillon noted that the consultant will be facilitating several focus groups regarding the experiences of seniors and the services for older adults in Barrie for the future. She indicated that a focus group session will be held on April 28th, 2016 at 4:30 p.m. in the Sir Robert Barrie Room of the City Hall and is open to all Council Committee members and non-members. | Received | |

Peter Dyck, Business Development Officer provided an overview concerning the status of declared surplus parking lots in downtown Barrie. P. Dyck advised that staff in the Business Development Department are in the early stages of investigating feedback, environmental assessments and appraisals for the properties. He noted that the City’s goal is to revitalize these properties, meet the parking requirement for the downtown area and reduce financial obligations.
The Committee discussed the parking issues in the Downtown area and noted that selling these properties for different uses may not coincide with an Age-friendly City.
