TMP-33476 2  Discussion ItemTHIS MONTH IN BARRIE AND BARRIE COMPASS Scott Lamantia, Manager of Marketing and Communications provided an update to the committee regarding the newspaper pilot project This Month in Barrie with Barrie Compass. Mr. Lamantia discussed the removal of newspapers causing some concerns with citizens being up to date on relevant information. Mr. Lamantia advised that Barrie Compass is a private newspaper company that has monthly paper deliveries that focus on 6 main seasonal campaigns and highlights events going on in the City. Committee members asked if the newspaper could be mailed out with the water billing and if a Public Notice Page could be added to the newspaper. Members discussed adding the year to the date printed, as well as adding page numbers.   Action details Not available
TMP-33478 2  Discussion ItemALZHEIMER’S AWARENESS MONTH Councillor AM Kungl provided an update to the committee regarding Alzheimer's Awareness Month. Councillor Kungl discussed the Alzheimer’s Society of Barrie and the Barrie and Orillia organizations amalgamation to create the Alzheimer’s Society of Simcoe County. Councillor Kungl provided some background on the organization including: · That they report to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada; · Currently there are 26 organizations located across Ontario; and · Creating dementia friendly communities. Councillor Kungl advised that the Alzheimer’s Society services are for free of charge. Councillor Kungl outlined that 82% of the people that the organization supports are respite or caregivers and the biggest project the organization is working on is social recreation and navigation growth.   Action details Not available

TMP-33479 2  Discussion ItemMULTI-YEAR ACCESSIBILITY PLAN (MYAP) UPDATE Karen Cooper, Manager of Health and Safety provided an update to the committee regarding the Multi-Year Accessibility Plan. Ms. Cooper advised that the plan ended in 2024 and is currently under review. The current City structure has been updated, and departments have been asked to review their tasks and report back. A draft copy will be available for the committee for feedback before going to Council for approval.   Action details Not available
