Chair, Councillor Nigussie discussed the new printed newspaper pilot project between the City of Barrie and Barrie Compass. The pilot project was launched at the beginning of November with printed copies of the newspaper being available free of charge. Members of the public can obtain a copy of the newspaper at City Hall, East Bayfield, Allandale, and Peggy Hill Team Community Centre’s, the downtown library, Holly Branch library, and the Painswick Branch library.
Committee members asked questions around the possibility of the newsletter being mailed out with the water bill, if each senior’s centre could have a page dedicated to monthly events, and how citizens can get an article in the newspaper. A member of the Communications Department will be invited to a future meeting to discuss this. | | |

Chair, Councillor Nigussie discussed with the Committee providing a donation in memory of previous Committee Member Louise Pope. The Committee approved an expenditure from the Senior’s and Accessibility Advisory Committee budget of $100 to be donated to Independent Living Services Simcoe County in Louise Pope’s memory. | | |

| 2 | | | Item of Discussion | MULTI-YEAR ACCESSIBILITY PLAN (MYAP) DISCUSSION
Karen Cooper, Manager of Health and Safety provided an update to the Committee regarding the Multi-Year Accessibility Plan. Ms. Cooper advised that the survey results are currently available on BuildingBarrie.ca for members to view. She discussed the results of the Age and Accessibility survey report and highlighted some key areas of interest. She advised that the plan needs to be completed by the end of 2024 with a report being brought to Council with the updated information. Ms. Cooper advised that she will provide an update to the committee at the next meeting. | | |
