Grant Rudachyk presented the possibility of the City of Barrie introducing an interactive solar mapping tool for residents to visualize rooftop solar potential.
Mr. Rudachy discussed the slides concerning the following topics:
· The purpose, background and potential tools and resources for an interactive mapping tool;
· Reasons to introduce an interactive solar mapping tool now;
· Solutions, information and tools other municipalities have implemented; and
· A list of solutions including appropriate report details, user interface, solution delivery speed, cost effectiveness and score.

Adam McMullin, Manager of Energy Management, updated the Committee on the work plan item to develop green development standards and a workshop or forum with developers to engage the community. He advised that it is premature to proceed with the idea of a workshop or a forum at this time, as he continues to investigate the development of green development standards.
Mr. McMullin mentioned that he would continue investigating the best approach to engage with the development community and report back to the Committee once more information becomes available.

a) Circular Economy
The Circular Economy Working Group provided updates on their investigations and results related to reusable plastics (cups and containers) and the Repair Café events.
The Working Group discussed the results from the survey conducted of Barrie restaurants and other eating places in the City related to the usage of reusable cups and containers. They provided examples of other municipalities that have a single-use plastic by-law and policies.
The Committee discussed ideas to promote and educate residents, businesses and City Council to support this initiative.
The Working Group discussed the results from the Repair Café held on April 5, 2025, related to the individuals that attended the event, the types of items repaired and the marketing and media coverage. They advised that the Repair Café was well attended and received good feedback from the attendees. The Working Group advised that they will continue working with Living Green to expand the Repair Café to other locations and promote this initiative.
