TMP-32810 2  Discussion ItemBARRIE FARMERS MARKET/OPEN AIR DUNLOP Jaime Grant, Market Development and Operations Manager of the Barrie Farmers Market provided a presentation concerning the historical significance of the Barrie Farmers’ Market Ms. Grant discussed slides concerning the following topics: · The historical background of the Barrie Farmer’s Market; · The historical significance of the former location of the market; · A background of the demolition of the former market square; · The historical significance of the arch and market hall located outside City Hall; and · The request to preserve the arch and market hall as part of the City’s heritage. In closing, Ms. Grant asked the Committee for feedback related to process for having the arch and market hall outside City Hall designated as heritage. The Committee members and City staff provided their feedback to Ms. Grant. TMP-32807 1  Discussion ItemHERITAGE BARRIE AWARDS Liam Munnoch, Planner provided an overview of the nominations received for the Heritage Barrie Awards. The Committee reviewed the nominations and selected recipients in the following categories: · Residential - three recipients · Institutional - one recipient · Individual - one recipient Mr. Munnoch advised that he will follow up with the recipients and report back to the Committee. The Committee members discussed potential properties or individuals for next years Heritage Barrie Awards and expanding the award categories. TMP-32808 2  Discussion ItemDOORS OPEN BARRIE Shelley Marchant provided an overview of the process of the Doors Open Barrie event held on September 14, 2024. She discussed the results, attendance, locations and costs associated with the event. Ms. Marchant advised that the event was well attended, and that she has received positive feedback from participants and attendees. Ms. Marchant acknowledged the Committee members and City staff for their assistance with Barrie’s First Doors Open Event. The Committee discussed next years date of September 12, 2025, and whether this event should continue to be coordinated by the Committee or as a City annual event. Staff from Economic and Creative Economy Department will be invited to a future meeting to discuss the Doors Open Barrie Event. Councillor, C. TMP-32814 2  Discussion ItemHISTORICAL STREET SIGN - SHORT STREET Liam Munnoch, Planner provided an update on the inquiry he received concerning a historical street sign for Short Street. The Committee provided their feedback to Mr. Munnoch and discussed the historical background of Short Street and street location in accordance with the City’s Official Plan. The Committee agreed that an historical street sign should be erected on Short Street. The Committee discussed the street signage with poppies and the significance of the poppies to the Veteran’s in the municipality. That staff in the Development Services Department arrange for the replacement and/or addition of a poppy to Coleman Drive and Ruffet Drive Street signs. 2. That staff in Development Services review the list of street signs in remembrance of veterans that currently do not have them, and any additional streets identified and report back to the Heritage Barrie Committee to advise of the names being added to the street name registry, with the aim of getting any names put on street signs as quickly as possible. 3.
