Pigeon provided an update regarding the German Twinning delegation which is scheduled to visit Barrie from October 11, 2016 to October 21, 2016. Mr. Pigeon did note that the Knights of Columbus and St. Mary’s Church will be assisting with the delegation during their stay in Barrie. V. Kompp provided an update concerning the German Canadian Club. TMP-16163 2  Item of DiscussionYOUTH AMBASSADORS UPDATE The Committee met and discussed the status of the Youth Ambassadors visits as follows: Murayama, Japan C. Hewitt provided an update regarding Murayama, Japan. Ms. Hewitt commented that preparations are taking place for a youth delegation from the City of Barrie to visit Murayama, Japan from August 16, 2016 to August 30, 2016. C. Hewitt introduced Meagan Greer as the new 2016 Youth Ambassador leader. Ms. Hewitt noted that ten youth ambassador’s applications have been received. Zweibrucken, Germany J. Babcock provided an update regarding the Global Perspectives Program. Mr. Babcock commented that a youth delegation from the City of Barrie through the Global Perspectives Program will be traveling to Zwéibrucken, Germany from May 28, 2016 to June 28, 2016. Mr. Babcock noted that this same youth delegation is currently visiting Cuba and will be returning to the City of Barrie on April 21, 2016.Received  Action details Not available
TMP-16164 2  Item of DiscussionTHE BOROUGH OF HARROGATE, NORTH YORKSHIRE UNITED KINGDOM UPDATE B. Sergeant provided an update regarding the Borough of Harrogate, North Yorkshire United Kingdom. Mr. Sergeant commented that there are plans for the King Edward Choir to travel to the Borough of Harrogate in 2017. He noted that the dates and locations for the visit are being finalized. B. Sergeant commented that the City of Barrie’s Twin Information Signage which recognizes the City’s current twinning/sister relationship has not been updated to reflect the Borough of Harrogate, North Yorkshire United Kingdom as a Twin City. Councillor B. Ward commented that he will follow up with staff in the Mayor’s Office about the signage and will provide an update at a future meeting. Mr. Sergeant provided an update regarding the Sir Robert Barrie Art Project during the Borough of Harrogate Update. Mr. Sergeant commented that Peter Rindlisbach, artist has been commissioned to do a portrait of Sir Robert Barrie. TMP-16165 2  Item of DiscussionPUERTO PRINCESA, PHILIPPINES UPDATE E. Cudanin provided an update regarding Puerto Princesa, Philippines. Mr. Cudanin reviewed the City of Puerto Princesa letter dated July 14, 2015 which included a draft memorandum of understanding concerning fortifying sisterhood partnership between the City of Barrie and Puerto Princesa. Mr. Cudanin asked the Committee to provide direction on how he should pursue with in the partnerships between the two Countries. The Committee suggested preparing a draft twinning certificate with a reference to promoting the twinning relationship between the City of Barrie and Puerto Princesa. The Committee also suggested that the draft twinning document be forwarded from the Chair of the International Relations Committee with reference to our friends in Puerto Princesa for their response.Received  Action details Not available
