PRESENTATION BY THE BARRIE POLICE SERVICE REGARDING THE BARRIE POLICE SERVICE - INSIDE THE CALL
Barrie Police Chief Kimberly Greenwood provided a presentation concerning the Barrie Police Service (BPS), its members and how they incorporate core policing principles, community partnerships and an overall commitment to the health and well-being of the City.
Chief Greenwood provided an example of a common type of occurrence that has several moving parts and how the BPS and community partners would be involved in a response and the different elements required to keep the community safe.
Chief Greenwood discussed slides concerning the following topics:
• The number of occurrences actioned in 2019;
• An example of the number of services within the Barrie Police Service and other service partners that respond to the calls;
• A breakdown of the number of matters dealt with by the Barrie Police Service in 2019;
• The civilian workers that work alongside sworn in Officers;
• The BPS’s vision, mission, values and their 2020-2022 Strategic Priorities; and
• The 2020 BPS Community Safety Survey.
Members of Council asked a number of questions to the presenter and City staff and received responses.
