Mayor A. Nuttall declared a potential pecuniary interest in the matter as he is the Mayor of the City of Barrie, and it directly relates to his position of office. He did not participate or vote on the matter and rolled his chair away from the Council table.
Deputy Mayor R. Thomson assumed the Chair at 9:38 pm.
ELIMINATION OF MAYORS PARTICIPATION IN OMERS PENSION PLAN

That staff in the Human Resources Department undertake the required process and work with OMERS to eliminate the need for the Mayor to participate in the OMERS pension plan; and, if the Mayor’s participation in the OMERS pension plan is ended, that the Corporation provide options for alternate contribution plans that maintain the Mayor’s overall compensation, including an employer contribution of 12% of the Mayor’s base annual remuneration (equivalent with what the employer contribution would have been under OMERS), resulting in no change to the Mayor’s total compensation.
