PRESENTATION CONCERNING THE DRAFT COMMUNITY SAFETY WELLBEING PLAN
 
Police Chief K, Greenwood provided a brief overview of the status of the draft Community Safety Wellbeing Plan.  Chief Greenwood introduced Alex Way from Mass LBP to provide a presentation concerning an Update Report of the Barrie Community Safety and Well-Being Plan Working Group.
 
Mr. Way discussed slides concerning the following topics:
 
•                     The legislative requirements related to the development of the Community Safety Well-Being Plan; 
 
•                     The objectives of the Community Safety Well-Being Plan;
 
•                     The establishment and composition of a working group by Barrie Police Services to assist in the development of the plan;
 
•                     The Working Group members identified sixteen aspirations for the plan;
 
•                     A chart summarizing the twenty-one identified risk factors in Barrie;
 
•                     A chart illustrating the identified risk factors organized into five focus areas;
 
•                     Charts illustrating what was learned about each of the following risk factors: 
a)                     Mental health and substance use;
b)                     Housing, homelessness and basic needs;
c)                      Crime;
d)                      Service gaps; and
e)                      Community resilience.
 
•                     A chart summarizing the existing services and potential initiatives to be considered as part of the development of the plan;
 
•                     The Working Group’s rationale used towards the development of the draft actions;
 
•                     Charts illustrating the draft actions to support community safety and well-being;
 
•                     A chart illustrating the draft actions and potential supporting steps; and 
 
•                     The next steps in the process.
