Jaime Grant, Market Development and Operations Manager of the Barrie Farmers Market provided a presentation concerning the historical significance of the Barrie Farmers’ Market
Ms. Grant discussed slides concerning the following topics:
• The historical background of the Barrie Farmer’s Market;
• The historical significance of the former location of the market;
• A background of the demolition of the former market square;
• The historical significance of the arch and market hall located outside City Hall; and
• The request to preserve the arch and market hall as part of the City’s heritage.
In closing, Ms. Grant asked the Committee for feedback related to process for having the arch and market hall outside City Hall designated as heritage. The Committee members and City staff provided their feedback to Ms. Grant.
The Committee members provided an update on the Barrie Farmers Market and Open Air Dunlop events they attended.
