RECOGNITION OF WILLIAM SERGEANT, THE RECIPIENT OF THE GOVERNOR GENERAL OF CANADA SOVEREIGN'S MEDAL FOR VOLUNTEERS
Mayor Lehman recognized Lieutenant Colonel William Sergeant, recipient of the Governor General of Canada Sovereign's Medal for Volunteers. He noted that the Sovereign's Medal for Volunteers recognizes the exceptional volunteer achievements of Canadians from across the country in a wide range of fields. Mayor Lehman introduced former Councillor, Robert Warman to the podium to recognize the recipient.
Mr. Warman provided an overview on Mr. Sergeant's exceptional achievements including his volunteering efforts for a charitable global community named "Sleeping Children Around the World" delivering bedding materials to children in developing world countries, and has made significant contributions to his own community by volunteering at the Veterans' Club of Barrie, the Canadian Red Cross, the Salvation Army's Barrie Bayside Mission Centre.
