Title: 2010 BARRIE ARTS AWARDS RECIPIENTS The Mayor called upon Rudi Quammie Williams to recognize the 2010 Barrie Arts Awards recipients. Mr. Williams noted that the purpose of the awards is to acknowledge the excellence and dedication of Barrie residents who choose to make a significant contribution to the community in the area of arts and culture. Mr. Williams provided a brief biography and background for each of the following award recipients: · Madison Angus - Most Promising Youth Award · Ted Fullerton - Excellence in the Arts Award · Claudine Benoit - Contribution to the Community Award · David Ball and Leigh-Anne Martin - Emerging Artist Award · Dr. Bruce Meyer - Poet Laureate Madison Angus winner of the Most Promising Youth Award provided a vocal performance entitled “Is It Really Me?”. The Mayor called upon Rudi Quammie Williams to recognize the 2010 Barrie Arts Awards recipients.  Mr. Williams noted that the purpose of the awards is to acknowledge the excellence and dedication of Barrie residents who choose to make a significant contribution to the community in the area of arts and culture.  Mr. Williams provided a brief biography and background for each of the following award recipients:

 

                     Madison Angus - Most Promising Youth Award

                     Ted Fullerton - Excellence in the Arts Award

                     Claudine Benoit - Contribution to the Community Award

                     David Ball and Leigh-Anne Martin - Emerging Artist Award

                     Dr. Bruce Meyer - Poet Laureate

 

Madison Angus winner of the Most Promising Youth Award provided a vocal performance entitled “Is It Really Me?”.  Poet Laureate, Dr. Bruce Meyer presented an original Poem entitled “The Spirit Catcher”.

 

Mr. Williams provided a brief outline of the background for Mr. Hummel, designer of the 2010 Barrie Arts Awards.  He noted that each year the award is a unique piece of art from a local artist.

 

Mr. Williams acknowledged Mr. Rodger Still sponsor of the Barrie Arts Awards, Vice President of TD Commercial Banking and thanked the staff from the Department of Culture for their contribution in planning the event.
