RECREATION PROGRAM AND FACILITIES SERVICE REVIEW - PROGRESS UPDATE
Rob Emerson, Manager, Business Services - Recreation, Facilities and Transit provided a presentation regarding the Recreation Program and Facilities Service Review: Progress Update. He explained the goals associated with the Recreation Program and Facilities Service Review related to cost recovery and utilization. Mr. Emerson highlighted that the service review activities are intended to change one or more of the following factors:
· Price
· Cost
· Participation
· Program Offering.
Mr. Emerson described the goals associated with each of the four factors. He noted that the collective ambition of the staff team from Recreation Programs and Recreation Facilities is "To be the recreation experience provided of choice in the City of Barrie". Mr. Emerson provided a progress update describing what has been done to date, what is currently being done and anticipated next steps in the process pertaining to pricing, cost savings, participation and program offering.
Mr. Emerson concluded by noting that a report to General Committee regarding the Recreation Program and Facilities Service review is anticipated for June, 2013, highlighting the anticipated matters that will be addressed in the report.
The Committee asked several questions related to the information provided and received responses from City staff.
