Title: YOUTH AMBASSADORS/GLOBAL PERSPECTIVES PROGRAM UPDATE Shannon Scully-Pratt provided a summary of the youth delegation from Murayama, Japan's visit to the City of Barrie during summer, 2024. She indicated that the delegation was comprised of two leaders and eight youth, and they had a great time during their stay. She highlighted that the youth delegation was very excited to have met the Consul General of Japan. Ms. Scully-Pratt advised that the host families were great, and thanked the representatives of Georgian College and all those who volunteered their time to welcome the delegation. Mark Sachkiw showcased a scroll received as a gift from Murayama, Japan. Jamie Babcock provided an update concerning the Global Perspectives Program. He advised that a delegation from Zweibrucken, Germany will be visiting Barrie between September 26, 2024 to October 24, 2024, and that the goodbye party is scheduled for October 23, 2024 at Innisdale Secondary School. Shannon Scully-Pratt provided a summary of the youth delegation from Murayama, Japan’s visit to the City of Barrie during summer, 2024. She indicated that the delegation was comprised of two leaders and eight youth, and they had a great time during their stay. She highlighted that the youth delegation was very excited to have met the Consul General of Japan.

 

Ms. Scully-Pratt advised that the host families were great, and thanked the representatives of Georgian College and all those who volunteered their time to welcome the delegation.

 

Mark Sachkiw showcased a scroll received as a gift from Murayama, Japan.

 

Jamie Babcock provided an update concerning the Global Perspectives Program.  He advised that a delegation from Zweibrucken, Germany will be visiting Barrie between September 26, 2024 to October 24, 2024, and that the goodbye party is scheduled for October 23, 2024 at Innisdale Secondary School.  Mr. Babcock commented that the Simcoe County District School Board will now be responsible for the finances related to the Global Perspectives Program.

 

The Committee approved an expenditure from the International Relations Committee Budget of up to $8,000.00 to cover transportation costs associated with hosting the Global Perspectives Program youth delegation from Zweibrucken, Germany during September/October, 2024.

 

Mr. Babcock commented that a group from Neills Brock of Denmark will be visiting the City of Barrie between October 7, 2024 to November 30, 2024 and will be connecting with the students from Global Perspective Program and Georgian College
