TMP-25579 1  Presentation - AC/RCPRESENTATION BY THE RESCUE LAKE SIMCOE COALITION REGARDING A REVIEW OF THE LAKE SIMCOE PROTECTION PLAN Claire Malcolmson, Executive Director from the Rescue Lake Simcoe Coalition provided a presentation concerning the Lake Simcoe Protection Plan Annual Review. Ms. Malcolmson discussed slides concerning the following topics: · The importance of Lake Simcoe’s rehabilitation; · An explanation of the phosphorous load and why it is important to the future of Lake Simcoe; · A list of ways the Lake Simcoe Protection Plan (LSPP) strengthened conservation of the Lake; · An overview of the LSPP Annual Review and its importance; and · A model council resolution that the coalition is requesting the City of Barrie pass. 20-G-039 1  RecommendationREQUEST FOR REVIEW OF THE LAKE SIMCOE PROTECTION ACT WHEREAS a healthy environment provides the foundation for healthy communities, healthy people, and a healthy economy; and WHEREAS the passage of the Lake Simcoe Protection Act received unanimous, all party support in the Ontario legislature in 2008. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: 1. That The Corporation of the City of Barrie calls on the Ontario Government to demonstrate its commitment to clean water and protecting what matters most in the provincial statutory review of the Lake Simcoe Protection Plan, by ensuring that provisions in the Lake Simcoe Protection Plan that protect water quality are not weakened and that policies protecting natural heritage be strengthened, in order to meet the targets of the Lake Simcoe Protection Plan. 2. That the Ontario Government be requested to work collaboratively with affected Provincial Ministries and all levels of government, including First Nations and Métis, to achieve the goals and targets of the Lake Simcoe Protection Plan and to resource the programs that improve Lakrecommended for consideration of adoption (Section "B")  Action details Not available

TMP-25582 1  Discussion ItemREVIEW OF THE PREVIOUS ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION WORKING GROUP The Committee discussed the City of Barrie’s International Cycling City Assessment (ICCA) survey. Wendy Loevenmark, Landscape Architectural Planner, provided details on the previous application and outcome for the program. She discussed the eligibility criteria and areas the City of Barrie was unable to achieve a bronze ranking, such as associated to a connected network of bike lanes. The Committee discussed updating the City’s Website associated to the Active Transportation Working Group.
