TMP-24180 1  Presentation - AC/RCOVERVIEW OF THE URBAN FOREST STRATEGY Kevin Rankin, Forestry Supervisor provided a presentation concerning the City’s Urban Forest Strategy. Mr. Rankin discussed slides concerning the following topics: · The City’s urban forest and street tree inventory as of 2013; · Bar graphs illustrating the tree inventory by species from 2004 - 2013; · The publics’ input and concerns associated to the Urban Forest Management Plan; · The strategic objectives for the Urban Forest Management Plan; · The implementation plan for the Urban Forest Management from 2014 - 2019; · A list of organizations partnering with the City; · A map and aerial photographs illustrating the Urban Forest Canopy Assessment in 2013 and 2018; · Maps illustrating the areas Emerald Ash Borer were detected from 2014 to 2018; · A map illustrating the areas that Ash Trees were removed in 2018; · An update and drawings illustrating the Arboretum Master Plan; and · A look forward to 2019-2020 for the Urban Forest Master Plan. McConnell, Transit Operations Planner provided a summary of other municipalities using separate cycling infrastructure along the sides of roadways. Mr. McConnell advised that higher volume of cyclists were using the separated cycling lanes as it provided cyclists with a safer environment as they are not competing with motorists on the road. The Committee discussed the benefits of a Transportation Demand Management Coordinator to assist the City in implementation of the Transportation Master Plan and to meet the targets the City set for active transportation infrastructure.Received  Action details Not available

TMP-24183 1  Item of DiscussionINCREASING RIDERSHIP ON BARRIE PUBLIC TRANSIT Brent Forsyth, Director of Transit and Parking Strategy provided an overview concerning the City’s current programs in place to assist in increasing ridership on Barrie Public Transit such as route changes, use of technology, tools used to assist in obtaining data and the introduction of a U-Pass program with Georgian College. Mr. Forsyth advised of future programs City staff are working on to improve and increase ridership. Mr. Forsyth highlighted on the steps taken to implement the programs and the increase in ridership on Barrie Public Transit from 2018.
