Mr. Sachkiw announced that Dave Morrison is the recipient of 2019 Autumn Imperial Decorations, The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays award from the Government of Japan in recognition of his contribution to the promotion of friendship and mutual understanding between Japan and Canada. H. Noguchi advised that she nominated Mr. Morrison for the award given his commitments to the relationship between Japan and Canada. Ms. Noguchi discussed the significance of The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays award. Deputy Mayor, B. Morrison provided an update regarding the Legacy Fund for the Youth Ambassadors Program with the Barrie Community Foundation. Mr. Morrison commented that a soft launch of the Legacy Fund for the Youth Ambassadors Program took place in October, 2019. TMP-25028 2  Item of DiscussionYOUTH AMBASSADORS UPDATE The Committee met and discussed the status of the Youth Ambassadors visits as follows: Zweibrücken, Germany J. Babcock provided an update regarding the Global Perspectives Program. Mr. Babcock commented that the youth delegation from Zweibrücken, Germany visited the City of Barrie between September and October, 2019. Mr. Babcock advised that the application process will begin soon for those students interested in participating in the 2020 Global Perspectives Program. Murayama, Japan D. Morrison, Chair provided an update regarding the Youth Ambassadors Program. Mr. Morrison advised that advertising for the youth ambassadors program will begin in early 2020 for the youth and youth leaders interested in participating in next year’s Youth Ambassador Program. Mr. Morrison advised that unfortunately Jeff Gulley, representative of the Youth Ambassador Program has resigned from the Committee.Received  Action details Not available

He advised that V. Kompp, representative of the German Canadian Club has resigned from the Committee and that he will provide an update regarding a replacement representative at a future meeting. TMP-25027 2  Item of DiscussionSIR ROBERT BARRIE PROJECT UPDATE B. Sergeant provided an update regarding the Sir Robert Barrie Project. Mr. Sergeant commented that both Jean Maurice Pigeon and himself provided a presentation to École Secondaire Roméo Dallaire School concerning Sir Robert Barrie which included the reproduction of the painting of His Majesty’s Canadian Ship (HMCS). He noted that the Sir Robert Barrie Committee does still have a few more schools in Barrie to present reproductions of the paintings. Mr. Sergeant advised that the representatives of the Sir Robert Barrie Committee provided a presentation to City Council on November 4, 2019 concerning the painting of His Majesty’s Canadian Ship (HMCS).Received  Action details Not available
