Morrison advised that he felt it has become more difficult to fundraise for the youth ambassador program and that by creating a “Youth Ambassadors/Global Legacy Fund” through the Barrie Community Foundation it would provide for opportunities for other interested parties to donate to the youth ambassador program. D. Morrison provided the Committee with the background of Barrie Community Foundation and Community Foundations in Canada. Deputy Mayor, B. Morrison, Chair commented that a youth delegation from Japan visited Barrie between July 28, 2019 and August 11, 2019. Deputy Mayor, B. Ward showcased the gift “The Gourd” received from the Murayama, Japan youth delegation. Deputy Mayor, B. Ward advised that he will be making a gift presentation to City Council on September 16, 2019. D. Morrison, thanked Georgian College and especially Kenta Shirakura who assisted in providing interpretors to assist with the Japanese youth delegation. D. Morrison, welcomed to the Committee Shannon Scully-Pratt as a youth ambassador representative and Kenta Shirakura as a Georgian College representative. Zweibrucken, Germany D. TMP-24655 2  Discussion ItemGERMAN TWINNING AND GERMAN CANADIAN CLUB UPDATE R. Warman provided an update regarding German Twinning. B. Warman advised that plans to host an adult delegation from Zweibrücken, Germany in October, 2019 have unfortunately been cancelled. R. Warman commented that 2022 will mark the 20th Anniversary of the twinning relationship between the City of Barrie and Zweibrücken, Germany and that plans will be put together to celebrate the occasion. R. Warman highlighted that the Lord Mayor Dr. Marold Wosnitza accompanied by his spouse Heike Heb from Zweibrücken, Germany visited Barrie between July 10, 2019 to July 12, 2019 and had a wonderful time during their stay. Sergeant advised that the one-sixth scale model ship has now been relocated from the Downtown Barrie Public Library to City Hall. B. Sergeant commented that the painting of His Majesty’s Canadian Ship Barrie (K-138) Flower Class Corvette in action during the Second World War has been drafted by the artist Peter Rindlisbacher. Mr. Sergeant thanked Rob Warman and Joe Rockburne for coordinating the relocation of the model ship to City Hall.   Action details Not available
