TMP-23419 2  Presentation - AC/RCGERMAN TWINNING UPDATE AND GERMAN CANADIAN CLUB REPORT J.M. Pigeon provided an update regarding Zweibrucken, Germany. Mr. Pigeon commented that Lord Mayor (Oberbürgermeister) of Zweibrücken, Professor Dr. Marold Wosnitza was sworn into office on the December 20th, 2018 to replace the former Lord Mayor Kurt Pirmann who passed away in 2018 while in office. Mr. Pigeon advised that Projekt 03 choir from Zweibrücken, Germany is scheduled to visit Barrie from October 3 to October 12, 2019 and that the main host group is the King Edward Choir. Mr. Pigeon noted that there will be a group of approximately 50 visitors from Germany which will consist of choir members, musicians and tourists. He indicated that the majority of visitors will be privately billeted and some will stay in local hotels. Mr. Pigeon commented that a recipricol visit by the King Edward Choir to Zweibrücken, Germany and to the Borough of Harrogate, North Yorkshire United Kingdom are planned for 2020. J.M. Mr. Sachkiw advised that Murayama, Japan will be sending a youth delegation to visit the City of Barrie during summer, 2019. TMP-23421 1  Presentation - AC/RCYOUTH AMBASSADORS UPDATE The Committee met and discussed the status of the Youth Ambassadors visits as follows: Zweibrücken, Germany J. Babcock provided an update regarding the Global Perspectives Programs. Mr. Babcock advised that students in the Global Perspectives Program will be traveling to Cuba in February, 2019. Mr. Babcock advised that the application process for the 2019/2020 Global Perspectives program has commenced and that the deadline for submissions is February 22, 2019. He noted that information regarding the Global Perspectives Program is available at www.youthambassadors.barrie.ca. Mr. Babcock indicated that a youth delegation from Zweibrücken, Germany will be visiting the City of Barrie from September 12 to October 10, 2019. Murayama, Japan D. TMP-23422 2  Presentation - AC/RCTHE BOROUGH OF HARROGATE, NORTH YORKSHIRE UNITED KINGDOM UPDATE B. Sergeant provided an update regarding the Borough of Harrogate, North Yorkshire United Kingdom. He advised that a Band from Harrogate will be visiting Toronto in July, 2019 and during their stay would like to have an opportunity to visit Barrie. D. Morrison noted that he has received an interest from a rugby team in Harrogate regarding the potential exchange with Barrie. Morrison advised that he met with two youth groups in Arras, France during his visit in October, 2018 to discuss the potential for youth exchanges with Barrie. TMP-23424 2  Presentation - AC/RCSIR ROBERT BARRIE PROJECT UPDATE B. Sergeant provided an update regarding the Sir Robert Barrie Project. Mr. Sergeant discussed Phase 3 of the Sir Robert Barrie Project which includes plans to commission a 3'x4' painting of His Majesty's Canadian Ship Barrie (K-138) Flower Class Corvette in action during the Second World War. Mr. Sergeant commented that Phase 3 of the Sir Robert Barrie Project also includes the relocation of the one-sixth scale model of HMCS Barrie currently on display in the Downtown Barrie Public Library to City Hall. Mr. Sergeant advised that the Sir Robert Barrie Committee will provide information regarding fundraising initiatives for Phase 3 of the Sir Robert Barrie Project at a future meeting.Received  Action details Not available
