Robbins of the Barrie Pipes and Drums. The National Anthem was performed by Judith Myddleton. Wendy Cooke, City Clerk/Director of Legislative and Court Services read the Land Acknowledgement. Wendy Cooke, City Clerk/Director of Legislative and Court Services introduced the members-elect of Barrie City Council: Mayor, Jeff Lehman Ward 1, Clare Riepma Ward 2, Keenan Aylwin Ward 3, Doug Shipley Ward 4, Barry Ward Ward 5, Robert Thomson Ward 6, Natalie Harris Ward 7, Gary Harvey Ward 8, Jim Harris Ward 9, Sergio Morales Ward 10, Mike McCann. Ms. Cooke called upon His Worship Dennis White to administer the Declaration of Office for the Mayor-elect. His Worship White administered the Declaration of Office to Mayor-elect Jeff Lehman for the Office of Mayor. His Worship Wilson placed the Chain of Office on Mayor Lehman. 18-A-099 1  CorrespondenceGREETINGS FROM SPECIAL GUESTS Mayor J. Lehman acknowledged former Mayor Dave Aspden, who served as Mayor of the City of Barrie between 2006 - 2010. Mayor Lehman called upon Councillor Ted Williams of the Chippewas of Rama First Nations to bring greetings. Councillor Williams brought greetings on behalf of the Chippewas of Rama First Nations and Chief Rodney Noganosh. Councillor Williams spoke of the positive relationship between the City of Barrie and the Chippewas of Rama First Nations and his desire that it continue. He congratulated members of Council on their recent election and commented that the City of Barrie deserves their very best and for them to give it everything they have. In closing, Councillor Williams presented the Mayor with diversity buttons that are symbolic of the four directions and the four colours of humankind. Each of the members of City Council thanked their families, campaign workers, supporters and the electorate. Councillors expressed their thoughts in anticipation of the new term of Council and outlined some of their objectives for the next four years. 18-A-101 1  CorrespondencePRESENTATION OF COMMORATIVE GIFT TO MEMBERS OF COUNCIL Wendy Cooke, City Clerk/Director of Legislative and Court Services invited Cassie Lehman to the podium. Cassie Lehman shared that the Barrie City Council Pewter Lapel Pin is a gift from Mayor Lehman. Miss Lehman explained the pin is a symbol of the significance of the role of Council and serves as a reminder of the people that Council represents. She asked that Councillors wear the pin with pride as they serve as a member of Council for the City of Barrie. Ms. Cooke called upon family members of the members of Council to approach the Council table to present the members of Council with the 2018-2022 Council Pin.
