18-A-105 2  Awards and RecognitionRECOGNITION OF THE RECIPIENTS OF THE 2018 ACCESSIBILITY BUSINESS AWARDS. Doug Taylor, Chair of the Accessibility Advisory Committee provided an overview of the Accessibility Advisory Committee. Mr. Taylor commented it was a proud evening for the Accessibility Advisory Committee to be able to celebrate the efforts made by businesses and organizations that have made exceptional strides to improve accessibility and provide inclusiveness for the community. Mr. Taylor called upon Mayor Lehman to join him at the podium to present certificates to the representatives of the businesses receiving the 2018 Accessibility Business Awards as follows: · Casa Cappuccino · Marty’s Coffee Bistro · Grace United Church Mayor Lehman expressed his appreciation to the award recipients for providing a thoughtful approach to improving accessibility in the City of Barrie. 18-A-106 2  Awards and RecognitionRECOGNITION OF THE PLANNING AND BUILDING SERVICES DEPARTMENT STAFF ON THEIR EFFORTS IN PROTECTING THE HABITAT FOR CHIMNEY SWIFTS LOCATED AT THE BARRIE COLLEGIATE SITE. Mayor Lehman called upon Alan McNair, Conservation Chair of Nature Barrie, Dorothy McKeown, President of Nature Barrie and Phyllis Tremblay and Inga Brinckmann, the Co-ordinators of the Barrie SwiftWatch for the presentation. Mr. McNair provided the background on the work completed by Nature Barrie and its participation in the Ontario SwiftWatch Project. He described the Chimney Swift, its habitat and its status as a threatened species. Mr. McNair spoke to the work that was undertaken by the City of Barrie, Ministry of Natural Resources and HIP Developments with respect to redevelopment of the Barrie Central Collegiate site and the efforts to preserve the chimney on the site which was identified as a nesting and roosting location for Chimney Swifts.
