Mayor Lehman advised that his office received numerous submissions and that Ms. Dion’s mixed media painting depicting an older home on Dunlop Street decorated for the Christmas Season clearly stood out. 18-A-090 1  Awards and RecognitionPRESENTATION TO THE RECIPIENTS OF THE ORDER OF THE SPIRIT CATCHER AND YOUTH SPIRIT CATCHER AWARD Councillor B. Ward and Councillor S. Trotter on behalf of the Order of the Spirit Catcher Committee announced that the Order of the Spirit Catcher and Youth Spirit Catcher Award are the highest awards presented in the City of Barrie and they noted that the recipients were recognized at a gala held by the Barrie Community Foundation. Councillor Ward discussed the number of applications received. He noted that the contributions of those who were nominated were inspiring. Councillor Ward discussed the nomination process and the surprise experienced by the recipients when they are notified that they are to receive these awards. Youth Spirit Catcher Councillor S. Trotter announced that the recipient for the 2018 Youth Spirit Catcher Award was Mr. Jake Vaz. He advised that Jake Vaz has demonstrated leadership in the creation and execution of a chess program for children at the Barrie Public Library for the last four years. 18-A-091 1  Awards and RecognitionPRESENTATION TO THE RECIPIENTS OF 2018 HERITAGE BARRIE AWARDS Mr. Chris Tribble, Chair of the Heritage Barrie Committee introduced the seventh annual Heritage Barrie Awards. He shared that the Heritage Barrie Committee selected winners from residential, commercial, institutional and group categories. Mr. Tribble, Mayor J. Lehman and members of the Heritage Barrie Committee presented awards to the following recipients: · Residential Heritage Award - 101 Clapperton Street - Pat and Carol Quinn; · Residential Heritage Award - 50 Burton Street - David Orti and Katherine Ellis; · Commercial Heritage Award - Vision Store, 214 Dunlop St. W. - Ben and Karen Rattalade; · Institutional Heritage Award - Burton Avenue United Church, 37 Burton Avenue; and · Group Category Heritage Award - Allandale Neighbourhood Association. Mayor Lehman recognized that Councillor Bonnie Ainsworth served four terms on City Council, including 1998-2000, 2001-2003, 2010-2014 and 2014-2018. He noted some of the Committees that Councillor Ainsworth was involved with during her Council terms. Mayor Lehman noted that a person would always know where Councillor Ainsworth stood on a matter.
