She commented that she had learned about how decisions are made by City Council, including specific wording to be used in meetings. She discussed her observations of the Mayor’s position. Brianna indicated that there would be no need for a Deputy Mayor position as she would do it for free. 18-A-043 1  Awards and RecognitionRECOGNITION OF THE BARRIE FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICE COMMUNICATIONS BRANCH STAFF Mayor Lehman called upon Cory Mainprize, Fire Chief and Sue Dawson, Deputy Fire Chief, Manager of Communications and Business Services to assist with the recognition of the Fire and Emergency Services Staff. Mayor Lehman recognized Barrie Fire and Emergency Service Communications Branch staff Heather Ardley-Mercer, Justin Gilbert, Amanda Balch, and Melissa Deneau as co-recipients of both the 2017 Simcoe County Public Safety Communications Joint Team Award and Team Recognition with Georgian Central Ambulance Communication Centre. For the 2017 Simcoe County Public Safety Communications Joint Team Award, Fire Chief Mainprize provided background on the motor vehicle accident on Highway 400 on October 31, 2017 at 11:30 p.m. He explained how both communication centres were short staff and that the call lasted for six hours. He recognized the Communications Team for remaining focused and steadfast in the dealing with the calls. 18-A-044 1  Awards and RecognitionRECOGNITION OF BARRIE MINOR HOCKEY ASSOCIATION Minor ATOM AE, ATOM AE, PEEWEE AA AND MINOR BANTAM AE tEAMS fOR WINNING THE 2018 ONTARIO MINOR HOCKEY ASSOCIATION CHAMPIONSHIPS Mayor Lehman recognized four Barrie Minor Hockey Association (BMHA) teams for winning their respective 2018 Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) Championships. He called upon the Coaches of the Minor Atom AE, Atom AE, Peewee AA and Minor Bantam AE Hockey Teams to join him at the podium to recognize their teams and to provide an overview of their teams’ season. Mr. Shawn Gauthier, Coach of the Minor Atom AE team, congratulated all the BMHA hockey teams in winning their 2018 OMHA Championships. Mr. Gauthier congratulated his team on their hard work and dedication, and thanked the volunteers and the parents of the players in assisting in making the season a success. Mayor Lehman explained that the award recognizes the dedication and accomplishments from the countless hours spent on the maintenance, progressive improvements and innovative techniques of the sports field operations and credited Mr. Breedon and his team of staff for their hard work and dedication.
