TMP-22490 1  Presentation - AC/RC2018 COMMUNITIES IN BLOOM PROGRAM M. Boyd, Parks Horticulture Foreperson advised that the City of Barrie will be participating in the 2018 National Edition and International Challenge of the Communities in Bloom Program and competing in the Circle of Excellence Evaluated category. Ms. Boyd noted that the judges will be Bob Lewis from Ottawa, Ontario and John Lohuis from Tillsonburg, Ontario, who will arrive in Barrie on July 24, 2018 and depart on July 26, 2018.Received  Action details Not available
TMP-22491 1  Presentation - AC/RCCOMMUNITIES IN BLOOM - FARMERS’ MARKET M. Boyd, Parks Horticulture Foreperson noted that this year’s theme for the Barrie Farmers’ Market is “Let’s Get Growing”. The Committee discussed its participation at the Barrie Farmers’ Market to promote the 2018 Communities in Bloom Program. The Committee noted that it will set up a registration table and distribute promotional brochures at the Farmers’ Market on May 19, 2018 from 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon at City Hall. D. TMP-22492 1  Presentation - AC/RCCOMMUNITIES IN BLOOM - CELEBRATE BARRIE M. Boyd, Parks Horticulture Foreperson provided an update regarding the Celebrate Barrie Event. She noted that this event will be held on June 2, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and will be located at Centennial Park. She commented that the Communities in Bloom Committee will be handing out either begonias or marigolds.Received  Action details Not available
TMP-22493 1  Presentation - AC/RCLITTLE BLOOMERS PROGRAM D. Ramsay advised that correspondence has been sent to Johnson Street Public School, Steele Street Public School and Ferndale Woods Elementary School regarding their participation in the 2018 Little Bloomers Program. Ms. Ramsay offered to look into local media coverage for this year’s Little Bloomers Program. M. Boyd, Parks Horticulture Foreperson provided an overview of the Little Bloomers Program that commences in mid-June. Ms. Boyd noted that the Committee provides plants and supplies to the primary students for a half-day program of activities over a three-day period. She stated that the theme of this year’s Little Bloomers Program is “Sprout into Spring”.Received  Action details Not available
