TMP-22107 1  Presentation - AC/RCDISCUSSION REGARDING TRANSIT K. Ashworth shared her concerns regarding transit accessibility challenges. Ms. Ashworth discussed problems she has experienced on Barrie Transit concerning: wheelchair securement and equipment functionality, snow clearing at conventional bus stops and booking trips on specialized transit. J. Zimmerman, Supervisor of Transit Operations addressed Ms. Ashworth’s accessibility concerns regarding Barrie Transit. Mr. Zimmerman noted that transit enquiries and complaints could be emailed to transit@barrie.ca . The Committee asked a number of questions and received responses from Mr. Zimmerman. C. Dillon, Accessibility Co-ordinator provided an overview of the Travel Training Program offered by Guelph Transit. Ms. Dillion noted that a Travel Training Program assists individuals living with a disability to navigate the conventional transit system using plain language and visual prompts. She proposed requesting Guelph Transit to provide a presentation to the Accessibility Advisory Committee on their Travel Training Program.Received  Action details Not available
TMP-22108 1  Presentation - AC/RCMULTI-YEAR ACCESSIBILITY PLAN C. Dillon, Accessibility Co-ordinator provided an update concerning the City of Barrie’s Multi-Year Accessibility Plan. Ms. Dillon advised that the City will be conducting surveys to obtain input on accessibility planning from the community and stakeholder groups. She noted that the City’s new Multi-Year Accessibility Plan will take effect on January 1, 2019.Received  Action details Not available
TMP-22109 1  Presentation - AC/RCCOMPREHENSIVE REVIEW OF THE ACCESSIBILITY FOR ONTARIANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT (AODA) C. Dillon, Accessibility Co-ordinator reviewed a Bulletin from the Accessibility Directorate of Ontario dated February 7, 2018 entitled, “Province Selects The Honourable David C. Onley to Review Ontario’s Accessibility Laws - Ontario Continues to Make Progress toward Becoming a Barrier-free Province”. Ms. Dillion noted that the Honourable David C. Onley will be consulting with the public to analyze accessibility progress and that the review will be complete by the end of 2018.Received  Action details Not available

Dillon, Accessibility Co-ordinator advised that the Seniors Advisory Committee has expressed an interest in partnering with the Accessibility Advisory Committee and the Active Transportation Committee to discuss improvements to walkable areas throughout the City. Ms. Dillion proposed that the Accessibility Advisory Committee arrange a meeting with the Seniors Advisory Committee and Active Transportation Committee to further review walkability initiatives.Received  Action details Not available
