ESTABLISH 2020 BARRIE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION GALA DATE
The Committee met to discuss the future dates of the Order of the Spirit Catcher Award presentations and Gala. The Committee agreed to adjust the Order of the Spirit Catcher and the Youth Spirit Catcher award campaign to coincide with the Barrie Community Foundation Gala being held in April annually, beginning in 2020. The Committee agreed that the 2020 Gala would celebrate the 2019 award recipients along with the 2020 award recipients.
Due to the short timeline for the 2020 campaign, the Committee agreed that the campaign would launch early in January, with the deadline for nomination submissions at the end of February, the award recipients announced and presented with their awards at a Council meeting prior to the Gala, with the Gala to be held at the end of April. For 2021 and beyond, the Committee agreed that the campaign would launch in September the year prior to the Gala, which would be held in early April, and that the recipients would be announced and presented with their award at a Council meeting prior to the Gala.
The Committee also discussed criteria for the selection of recipients and agreed that due to many nominations of worthy candidates, two awards would be given to citizens over the age of 18, and one award given to youth candidates between the age of 12 and 18.
