Cory Mainprize, Fire Chief provided a presentation concerning the 2017 Barrie Fire and Emergency Service (BFES) Annual Report.

 

Fire Chief Mainprize discussed slides concerning the following topics:

 

                     The organizational structure of the BFES;

                     The strategic priorities of the BFES;

                     Highlights from the 2017 Annual Report;

                     Charts illustrating the following topics:

o                     Total incident response and incidents over the past nine years;

o                     The percentage increase in incident volumes over the past nine years;

o                     The number of incidents by month for the years 2016 - 2017;

o                     The six minutes road response percentages between 2010 - 2017;

o                     The 2017 percentages of incidents by type;

o                     The percentages of incident response types for a five year average versus 2017;

o                     The number of incident responses by type for a five year average versus 2016;

o                     The number of fires with a dollar loss between 2010 - 2017;

                     A map illustrating the location of 2017 fires;

                     A chart illustrating the total dollar losses between 2010 - 2017; and

                     Future initiatives associated to education, planning, procedure reviews, staff training and support programs.

 

Members of the Committee asked a number of questions regarding the presentation and received responses from City staff.
