PRESENTATION BY C. TOSH, AGE-FRIENDLY COMMUNITY PROJECT LEAD OF THE COUNTY OF SIMCOE REGARDING THE AGE-FRIENDLY BUSINESS/ORGANIZATION RECOGNITION PROGRAM AND THE 2019 AGE-FRIENDLY SENIORS HOUSING GRANT PROGRAM
C. Tosh, Age-Friendly Community Project Lead of the Health and Emergency Services Department at the County of Simcoe provided a presentation regarding An Age-Friendly Simcoe County. Ms. Tosh noted that population aging is a global phenomenon and one of the most significant trends in the 21st century.
Ms. Tosh discussed slides concerning the following topics:
• The World Health Organization’s Eight Dimensions to assess a city’s environment, services and policies reflecting active aging determinants;
• A review of the County of Simcoe’s Positive Aging Strategy: Older Adults Strengthening our Communities;
• An overview of Age-Friendly Simcoe County (AFC) initiatives including:
o Communication and Information;
o Transportation;
o Housing;
o Health and Community Support;
o Outdoor Spaces; and
o Civic Engagement and Volunteerism.
Members of the Committee asked a number of questions related to the information provided and received responses from the presenter.
