Title: BARRIE CENTRAL COLLEGIATE HABITAT PRESERVATION FOR CHIMNEY SWIFTS A. McNair provided information associated with the Chimney Swifts that are nesting in the chimney at the Barrie Central Collegiate site. Mr. McNair provided information regarding Chimney Swifts and stated that they are an endangered species, and as such, the species habitat needs be preserved or an attempt to a managed relocation to a new habitat. He explained that with the discovery of the Chimney Swifts nesting in the Barrie Central Collegiate chimney, the City's Planning and Building Services Department was notified and modifications were made to preserve the chimney during the demolition of the building. Mr. McNair noted that Nature Barrie has been monitoring the Chimney Swifts at the Barrie Central Collegiate location and has been working with the City and the developer of the site to maintain or relocate the habitat to accommodate the Chimney Swifts.
