Title: PRESENTATION BY THE LAKE SIMCOE REGIONAL CONSERVATION AUTHORITY (LSRCA) CONCERNING THE LSRCA'S SALT MANAGEMENT STRATEGY Mr. Wayne Watson introduced Mr. Bill Thompson from the Lake Simcoe Regional Conservation Authority (LSRCA) and he advised that Mr. Thompson will be providing a presentation concerning Salt Reduction in the Lake Simcoe Watershed. Mr. Wayne Watson introduced Mr. Bill Thompson from the Lake Simcoe Regional Conservation Authority (LSRCA) and he advised that Mr. Thompson will be providing a presentation concerning Salt Reduction in the Lake Simcoe Watershed.

 

Mr. Thompson discussed slides concerning the following topics:

 

                     A graph illustrating the Lake Simcoe chloride trends from 1970 - 2015:

                     A map illustrating areas and contributing factors associated with the concentration of urban chloride in the Lake Simcoe Region;

                     A map illustrating the City of Barrie drinking water contributing areas;

                     A pie chart and map illustrating the amount of salt per capita in the Lake Simcoe Region;

                     Two site plan drawings illustrating the built environment associated with Salt Reduction Strategy;

                     The private sector and public sector practices of the Salt Reduction Strategy;

                     The membership of the Salt Working Group; and

                     The “Minimum Maintenance Standards” developed in an attempt to reduce salt on roads.

 

Members of the Committee asked a number of questions and received responses from the presenter.
