Title: PRESENTATION REGARDING THE BARRIE POLICE SERVICE 2020 BUDGET REQUEST Police Chief, Kimberly Greenwood introduced the members of the Barrie Police Services Board and senior staff from the Barrie Police Service in attendance at the meeting. PRESENTATION REGARDING THE BARRIE POLICE SERVICE 2020 BUDGET REQUEST

Police Chief, Kimberly Greenwood introduced the members of the Barrie Police Services Board and senior staff from the Barrie Police Service in attendance at the meeting. Chief Greenwood provided a presentation concerning the 2020 Barrie Police Service Budget request.

Chief Greenwood discussed slides concerning the following topics:

* An overview on the Barrie Police Service (BPS) challenges associated to the Ontario First Responders Act, salaries and budget, reduction in grant revenue, the Next Generation 911, facility transitions and radio system upgrades;
* A chart illustrating the BPS sworn and civilian staff complement between 2014 and 2020;
* The BPS salaries, benefits and overtime increases;
* A comparison of the 2019 and 2020 BPS facilities and operating budgets;
* The costs associated with the BPS relocating to the Barrie Simcoe Emergency Services Campus;
* A chart illustrating the Provincial funding reductions from 2018 to 2020;
* A chart illustrating the secondments and other revenue sources from 2018 to 2020;
* The BPS capital budget and technical upgrades;
* The legislative impacts to the 2020 BPS Budget request;
* A summary of the Municipal funding required for 2020; and
* A capital request associated to the Training Centre located at 79 Bell Farm Road.

In closing, Chief Greenwood commented that the Barrie Police Service will continue to support and be an efficient police service to the community. She requested approval of the municipal funding portion of the Barrie Police Service 2020 Budget request.

Members of Council asked a number of questions of Police Chief Greenwood and received responses.
