YOUTH AMBASSADORS UPDATE
The Committee met and discussed the status of the Youth Ambassadors visits as follows:
Murayama, Japan
D. Morrison, Chair provided an update regarding Murayama, Japan. Mr. Morrison advised that preparations are underway for a youth delegation from Murayama, Japan to visit the City of Barrie from July 29, 2019 to August 10, 2019. Mr. Morrison advised that he will provide the Committee with a copy of the youth delegation’s itinerary.
Mr. Morrison commented that preparations are underway to host a Goodbye Party for the Japan youth delegation at the Southshore Community Centre, August 8, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. Mr. Morrison invited the Committee to attend this event.
The Committee approved expenditures of funds from the International Relations Committee cost centre #1026 660200 for an amount not to exceed $8,000.00 for costs associated with hosting the youth delegation from Murayama, Japan from July 29, 2019 to August 10, 2019.
Zweibrücken, Germany
D. Morrison, Chair provided an update regarding Zweibrücken, Germany. Mr. Morrison advised that a youth delegation from the City of Barrie through the Global Perspectives Program are currently visiting Zweibrücken, Germany until the end of June, 2019. He commented that a youth delegation from Zweibrücken, Germany will be visiting the City of Barrie between September/October, 2019.
M. Sachkiw commented that he attended “Global Presents” at Innisdale Secondary School on May 23, 2019 which showcased students’ works from the semester.
The Committee approved expenditures of funds from the International Relations Committee cost centre #1026 660200 for an amount not to exceed $12,000.00 for costs associated with hosting the youth delegation from Zweibrücken, Germany between September/October, 2019.
