Title: GENERAL UPDATES R. Osborne, Supervisor of Enforcement Services advised that the Enforcement Services Branch of the Legislative and Court Services Department is currently reviewing the Property Standards By-law. GENERAL UPDATES

 

R. Osborne, Supervisor of Enforcement Services advised that the Enforcement Services Branch of the Legislative and Court Services Department is currently reviewing the Property Standards By-law.  Mr. Osborne noted that the review of the Property Standards By-law will focus on the following areas:  response times, service fees and definitions.

 

J. Forgrave, Supervisor of Enforcement Services provided an update from the Enforcement Services Branch of the Legislative and Court Services Department on matters related to:

 

                     Parking complaints due to waterfront construction;

                     Revisions to the Election Sign By-law; and

                     The recruitment of uniformed Enforcement Services staff.

 

Sergeant J. Brooks of the Barrie Police Service noted that there were no recent community or safety issues to report in Ward One. 

 

J. Hanson of the Barrie East End Homeowners Association proposed that the composition of the Town and Gown Committee be expanded to include a property owner from a student rental property in Ward One.

 

C. Riepma of the Barrie East End Homeowners Association asked a number of questions related to the information provided and received responses from staff in the Enforcement Services Branch and the Barrie Police Service.

 

J. Sharp, Supervisor of Traffic Operations and Community Safety advised that the Roads, Parks and Fleet Department has completed its review of the parking restrictions on Dunsmore Lane.

 

Councillor, B. Ainsworth requested feedback from the Committee regarding the parking of large vehicles and vessels on residential driveways.  The Committee discussed safety concerns and enforcement issues concerning the parking of recreational vehicles, large boats, etc. on residential property.
