Andy Thomson of the Ontario Association of Architects provided a presentation concerning the 2030 District Standards Program.  He noted that this Program is being implemented in partnership with the Canadian Urban Institute.  Mr. Thomson discussed the logistics and benefits to municipalities who participate in the Program.

Mr. Thomson discussed the following topics:

·	The background of the 2030 District Standards Program;
·	Municipalities participating in the Program;
·	Metrics that can be produced;
·	Benefits for property owners;
·	Comparable municipalities to Barrie that are participating in the Program.

·	Living Green’s Strategic Plan;
·	The City of Barrie’s Climate Change Adaptation Strategy and Implementation Plan;
·	The provisions within the Strategy that speak to providing natural and constructed shade, and the creation of naturalized and edible landscapes using existing resources;
·	That the growing of mature trees is missing from the strategy;
·	A suggestion for a Living Green Climate Change Tree Planting Program for private and public lands;
·	Proposal for Community Tree Planting events and Neighbourhood Tree stewards on public lands;
·	Proposal for Backyard Tree Planting Program;
·	Proposal for Corporate and Greening Health Program;

The Committee discussed the creation of a Transit Advisory Committee and bike share extension of the Transit Pilot Project.

Wendy Cooke, City Clerk advised that the creation of a separate Transit Advisory Committee is not feasible from a staff resource perspective at this point in time.

Brent Forsyth, Director of Transit and Parking Strategy provided details associated to community engagement when route changes are being considered.  He noted that Transit staff could include the Committee as part of the consultation process.

The Committee discussed the extension of the Bike Share Transit Project.  The Committee asked staff to provide further details on the Program including statistics, metrics from other communities that use the Program and involvement from other Departments.
