S. Brunet, Manager of Environmental Operations and T. Quann-Strasser, Supervisor of Water Diversion provided a presentation regarding the City of Barrie’s waste diversion program and plastic bottles.

Ms. Brunet and Ms. Quann-Strasser discussed slides concerning the following topics:

·	The story of the water bottle;
·	An overview of waste diversion associated to reduce, reuse, recycle and recover;
·	The City’s objective to achieve zero waste and zero greenhouse gas emissions from waste;
·	The City’s view on plastic water bottles associate to the Blue Box Program; 
·	Information on Stewardship Ontario (SO) and how it contributes to the Blue Box Program;
·	Flowcharts illustrating the current collection schematics associated with grey and blue boxes, garbage, green bin organics and yard waste;
·	The history from 1970 to 2016 regarding the use and recycling of beverage bottles; 
·	A flowchart illustrating the changing landscape of the legislation for a waste-free Ontario;
